MEET THE ARTIST

Lynda English

“I love the manipulation of strong color, texture, and bold shapes to create memorable pieces of art. These works can be realistic or abstract. The subject is secondary to the interplay of these factors. The joy is in the creation not the end result.”

LYNDA ENGLISH is a South Carolina award winning watercolorist and full time professional oil painter since 1980. She has lived in Florence, SC, until 2025 when she and her family moved to the Charleston area. Lynda has painted and drawn in a very realistic manner giving great attention to color and detail. She enjoys layering her watercolors to achieve strong rich colors. Her oils are filled with color and texture using palette knife and cold wax.

Lynda’s paintings are inspired by her love for the Lowcountry and her travels through Europe. Her favorite subjects are ones that have strong lights and darks. She also likes zooming in on ordinary objects, bringing the viewer right up to them so that they can feel and see things that normally they would overlook or take for granted.

The artist work has been collected by a diverse prestigious group of corporations and patrons in the United States and Europe. She is a Member of Excellence in the South Carolina Watermedia Society (SCWS), a Signature Member in the Southern Watercolor Society (SW), and an Associate Member in the International Society of Experimental Artist (ISEA).
